All Hail Derry City!

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 The Premier Division has just one team
[All hail Derry City!]
It’s like a strange and monstrous dream,
With punters sitting pretty.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 They’ll play themselves at home and away
[All hail Derry City!]
I reckon it is safe to say
The football will be gritty.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 They’ll win the League, of that I’m sure,
[All hail Derry City!]
But slip through the relegation door,
Which really is a pity.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 A shorter season’s ne’er been seen,
[All hail Derry City!]
But lack of travelling will mean
More money in the kitty.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Although they may be in the soup,
[All hail Derry City!]
Gavin Dykes is cock-a-hoop,
Or is it Walter Mitty?

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 The fans’ dry humour will not fail,
[All hail Derry City!]
By season’s end, I’m sure that they’ll
Come up with something witty.

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 The rhymes are running out my friend,
[All hail Derry City!]
So thankfully this is the end
Of this annoying ditty.

Notes

Derry City, being the only team in Ireland to have been awarded a UEFA Premier Division Licence, are now in a league of their own.
