Nor see splashed across back pages
still they grace the finest stages

with startling pace and skilful manner
and a moving thank you banner
the mind flies back a hundred years
the first World War it’s loss and fears
when football rocked to skilful girls
and Dick Kerr’s Ladies showed the world

with quarter final place at stake
a country’s hopes no longer fate
the Germans or the French in wait

dazzled in the Summer night
watched by millions in that land
and twenty thousand in the stands
