On Monday we stood in the sweltering heat
Frying alive watching the Shots get beat
We still managed to sing and cheer
Though it was the hottest day of the year

For three hours we stood in the burning sun
Till my face looked like a steak, “well done”
Under those scorching rays, the Shots fans baked
Hotter than the cooler in the Great Escape

But when I arrived in work yesterday
Quite a few people came up to say
“Where have you been on your holidays?”
I answered, “I‘ve been to football, away at Grays!”

So think on this, if you’re looking for a tan
Forget those holiday brochures you scan
follow the Shots to all the away grounds
You’ll end up looking like a million pounds
