Bein’ A Redman

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 I’ve been a redman for many a year
I’ve stood on The Kop and loved being there
I’ve cheered for our heroes and shed me some tears
Most for the 96 lost, no longer here
I loved to watch Shanks from the tunnel emerge
You could sense the excitement electric the air
And he’d look to The Kop with the love in his eyes
He’d embrace every one for The Kop was his pride

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 He built us great sides and made us the best
We had conquered the world by the time he would rest
Football his religion and Liverpool his soul
Like us he kicked every ball and scored every goal
It was fortress Anfield for the teams who came here
And we’d pack them off home give them nothing to cheer
We had Big Bamber flying like Lord of the wings
And Big Tosh and Keegan a duo for dreams

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Men like Lindsay and Cally and Kennedy too
Emlyn was special a redman right through
Tommy Smith hard but fair, Thommo skin and bone
And one of my favourites was O Joey Jones!
Times now are quieter and lean are the years
Since King Kenny left us with memories and tears
We wait for the title with Brasso in hand
But will Houllier make us the best in the land?

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 For we stand by the redmen our faith is our shield
We will give them our love, and the cause never leave
Where Rushie once played now Owen shoots
Our dreams all wrapped up in his laces and boots
Well I think of Bob Paisley in his cardie and slippers
Up there in heaven his Redmen he misses
By his side Smokin’ Joe how he rose through the ranks
And with God at his side I recognise Shanks!
