It’s hard and its painful
And rejections a many
And for all your good work
You’re not paid a penny

But when asked to deliver
You won’t find them at all

But show me what other poetry can grab the soul
And blow up a storm in your heart

There’s a laugh from our Pete and the new man Joe Reid
And the fine words of JJO

Crispin will tell you of men like Arthur Wharton
Whilst the schools tell you bugger all

Which is more than they’ll get from ManU
There is Clik with his insight and Bas his wet nose
Can other poetry give all this to you?

So yes it might seem like a mountain
And we’re up against impossible odds
But football poetry will make the curriculum
Despite all the ignorant and prejudiced sods!
