Being A Football Poet (for all of us)

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 It’s hard and its painful
And rejections a many
And for all your good work
You’re not paid a penny

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 You’ll be promised the moon
And they’ll throw in the stars
But when asked to deliver
You won’t find them at all

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 The literary world is a closed shop
And with their money wont part
But show me what other poetry can grab the soul
And blow up a storm in your heart

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 When you write about Celtic like Danny
Or the history of Butler and Co
There’s a laugh from our Pete and the new man Joe Reid
And the fine words of JJO

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 There’s the passion of Marshall and Lacy
A credit to their Liverpool Club
Crispin will tell you of men like Arthur Wharton
Whilst the schools tell you bugger all

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 Mike gives the point of the gooners
Which is more than they’ll get from ManU
There is Clik with his insight and Bas his wet nose
Can other poetry give all this to you?

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 So yes it might seem like a mountain
And we’re up against impossible odds
But football poetry will make the curriculum
Despite all the ignorant and prejudiced sods!

Notes

Keep the faith…..
