1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Who’s the best ever british keeper
To wear the number one top?
It’s got to be Ray Clemence
Sing the scousers on the Kop.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Nah, the best of them all was Pat Jennings
Proclaim the spurs fans at White Hart Lane
With the biggest and safest hands in football
Even better than Man Utds great dane.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Don’t be silly shout the gooners
David Seaman is easily the best
A much better goalie than Jennings
And head and shoulders above all the reat.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 It’s Peter Bonetti roar the the Chelsea Shed
Flying through the air like an acrobat
So athletic with those feline reflexes
That’s why he was nicknamed the Cat.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 The Forest laud the great Peter Shilton
The most capped keeper of all time
Now if he aint voted at number one
There’s no justice, it’s gotta be a crime.

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 The Pompey fans at Fratton Park
Chant the name of David “calamity” James
The best ever shot stopper in the Premier
Keeping clean sheets in most of his games.

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 Well the votes are all now in
To the fans we give our thanks
And the title of best ever British keeper
Goes to the one and only, Gordon Banks.

Notes

I hope my choice of Gordon Banks is approved by most fans, I am old enough to have seen him play many times, and it was a toss up between him, and Peter Shilton, but I think Banks just about edges it.
