Blind Faith In The Game Pt 2 ~ Paralympics 2012

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 We’re watching two blind teams play football
and it’s smashing our concepts in two
ev’ry movement and touch is demanding so much
and it challenges all that we knew..of this game

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 and I can’t quite begin to imagine
I must have been blind not to see
how much we take it for granted
to wake up and look out and see…with these eyes
if you’re out on the field or you’re watching
if you play or you’re simply a fan
just like darkness and light with the gift of this sight
we’ve been viewers since football began…in our lives

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 so how must it feel to be totally blind
to be making and feeling the space
to be led out alone and be left on your own
to sense every inch of that place….without eyes?
to be feeling the pitch with your eyes closed
with shadows and noises around
a heavier football with bearings inside
where you play and respond to a sound…or a cry
where “voi” is the cry of a tackle ahead
on a pitch measured 20 by 4
where everyone’s blindfolded chasing a game
and the crowd let you know when you score….or you fail

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 We’re watching two blind teams play football
and it’s smashing our concepts in two
with each movement and touch it’s demanding so much
and it challenges all that we knew..of the game
