He had to try and find out if
Match-fixing did take place.

He checked their bank accounts,
Looking for a single clue
Upon which he could pounce.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 The managers were innocent
Or so they stoutly claimed.
Directors brought solicitors,
In case they were defamed.

Tried every trick he knew,
And the more that he was stymied, well,
The more suspicions grew.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 He bit the bone and chewed the fat
And spat out all the gristle,
And lo! he was rewarded when
The referee blew the whistle.
