Christmas Anoraks For Goalposts in Hackney

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 ten am on a cold Christmas eve
open my eyes and can you believe
out in the mud in the wild East Nine
but ev’ry day here is football time

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 thirteen a side in a seven hour game
dark by five but they’re playing just the same
Tesco’s heaving and they’re shopping to the beat
riding those mini-bikes up and down the street

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 keep on moving keep on trying
football in the blood and there ain’t no denying
in the longest game ithat I’ve ever seen
under the tower blocks here on the green

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 ten pm on a Christmas Night
can’t see the anoraks hardly any light
everyone’s arguing no-one knows the score
we don’t care we’ve all been here before

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 but way down here in a cold East Nine
any time ev’ry time football time
