CLASS WILL TELL

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 I once watched the mighty Arsenal get thrashed
By an average Wolverhampton
Charlie George played worse, the more I yelled
I felt as if my world had crashed
My dreams had all been tramped on
But in the end, I remembered,
CLASS WILL TELL

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 A couple of hundred fans that day
Back in London, off the train
Began to chant, as though they had just won
“We’re the North Bank. We’re the North Bank.
We’re the Gooners, and we only lost five one”

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 And as the months and years went by
Those fans were well rewarded for their mirth
‘Excuse me as I wipe an eye’
Their team went on to be the best on Earth

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 When I sit up in the ‘Library’ today
With it’s occasional soft refrain
I think of that crowd, defiant with their yell
I think of those who sang that day
After losing in the rain
And I remember, in the end, that
CLASS WILL TELL
