Cliche

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 The beautiful game
a walk in the park,
the group of death,
a game of two halves.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 They should just go out there and have fun,
no love lost between these two teams,
they’ll settle for the point,
or the dreaded penalties.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Ball doing all the work,
strikers run into spaces,
killer passes,
row Z takes it.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Long cross floated into the area,
how the ref hasn’t seen that I won’t know,
moves well for a big lad
Form book’s out the window.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Can’t teach that,
dangerous looking ball,
It’s a big ask,
There’s been a lot of talk.

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 Credit to the lad,
captain marvel,
always giving 110 percent,
acquiting himself well.

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 Should get an oscar,
just couldn’t write this script,
they’re finally getting the respect they deserve,
that’ll silence the critics.

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 A clean pair of heels shown,
goalie’s off his line,
my hat’s off to him,
plenty to discuss at halftime.

9 Leave a comment on verse 9 0 Set out their stalls,
what was he thinking,
the side has lost it’s shape,
all over bar the shouting.

10 Leave a comment on verse 10 0 They have to believe in themselves,
these are nervous moments,
records are made to be broken,
Poetry in Motion.

11 Leave a comment on verse 11 0 They’re still very much alive,
they must maintain their composure,
bitter pill to swallow,
teams turned the corner.

12 Leave a comment on verse 12 0 No question about it,
stranger things have happened,
what an incredible turnaround,
I want to thank our fans.

13 Leave a comment on verse 13 0 That’s too little, too late,
the final score doesn’t tell the whole story,
That’s gotta hurt.
I’m going to spend more time with my family.

14 Leave a comment on verse 14 0 Obviously, the statistics speak for themselves,
we’ve got a good, solid foundation to build on,
I’m the last one to make excuses,
We’re going to get things turned around.

15 Leave a comment on verse 15 0 We dug deep,
deeper than we’ve ever dug before,
the game was a lot closer than it looks,
when it rains it pours.

16 Leave a comment on verse 16 0 They’re in the driver’s seat,
discussing their pay,
He can make things happen out there,
one long cliche’.

Notes

I’m sure I could tighten this up a bit and make it more streamlined and a little more sensible but I just wanted so much to include every cliche I could. T’was fun. Is football or football commentating one long cliche?
