Cup Cynic

As the Carling Cup approaches
For the “big” clubs,
Will they enter into the spirit of the game,
Or will they insult the paying audience
By “blooding the youngsters”
Knowing that, if they go out, then the
“They played well”
“We underestimated them”
Followed by
“The youngsters put up a good fight”
Excuses can be held at the ready.
The top players only appearing,
By Royal Appointment (Agents)
In the semis and final.
C’mon clubs, play fair.
Don’t forget who pays!
