Dereliction

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Flat caps and toffees don’t work any more
All seemed so nice in black and white before
But now it has changed and we’re moving to slow
I thought that this was the people’s own game
Now they’ve been kicked out it’s never the same
Oh now it has changed and it happened so fast

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 I hoped money would not be so big news
This football church wants to fill up its pews
Oh do you only want the notes in my pocket?
From the top it moves all the way down
They make our faces turn from smile to frown
But who can I look at to place the blame?

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Watch them kick a ball, an unrivalled joy
Hold on, this could all be a major ploy
Oh I’m a part of this big conspiracy
Soon only the major teams will all survive
While the rest of us go off to die
The bubble will burst and we saw it coming

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 See out our days on this damp crippled stand
Nobody else willing to lend out a hand
Its dog eat dog when it comes to economy
That day will come when we will just disappear
We won’t be the last to go either I fear
Oh we’re on the brink and we’re slipping in.
