Dodgy ankle

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Frowning, I look down
At another piece of rubber from Tescos.
An elaborate multi-folded diagram of a foot
Must justify the twenty quid price tag.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 It streches uncomfortably around the skin,
The velcro tag stabs and snags
But the hope of playing football
Burns in my soul, as I reach for
The ugliest shin pad in the world.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 A satisfied grin lingers on my lips:
I lasted the full ninety minutes
“But will I last until next week?”
I think, as I hobble towards my Fiesta.
