Duff is at the ground

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 We feel it in our fingers
We feel it in our toes
Duff is at the ground
And so expectation grows

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 He shimmies on the wing
He’s everywhere we go
So if you really love him
Come on and let it show

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 You know we love you, we always will
Our mind’s made up by the
Way that you thrill
We’ll keep on winning
There’ll be no end
Cause against our Duffers, you can’t defend

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 We see your face before us
From what was the Shed
You’re gonna have us singing
As we beat the Reds, oh yes we will

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 You gave your promise to us
And so we to you –
We’ll chant your name
For every nutmeg, you push through, oh yes we will

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 You know we love you, we always will
Our mind’s made up by the
Way that you thrill
We’ll keep on winning
There’ll be no end
Cause against our Duffers, you can’t defend

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 Gotta keep it moving

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 He shimmies on the wing
He’s everywhere we go
So if you really love him
Come on and let it show
Come on and let it show
Keep on cheering
Take a Japanese bow
Come on and let it show
Come on and let it show

Notes

now try singing it to the tune of ‘Love Is All Around’ by Wet Wet Wet,
from the film, Four Weddings and a Funeral

Apologies to Reg Presley, who wrote the original song.
Most of you would be familiar with another of his famous songs,
‘Wild Thing’ which he performed with his band in the 70’s, The Troggs

Also a reference here, in the outro lyrics,
to the most original (and totally off the cuff)
goal celebration of the 2002 World Cup,
when Damian Duff celebrated his goal against Saudi Arabia,
by bowing deferentially, Japanese style, in front of the fans.
This apparently endeared him to a large chunk of the Asian public.
