This poem I’m writing
Will have little mention of play.
More what did not happen,
Than whatever did.
James played as usual
Inconsistently terrible.
A mad mix for goalkeepers
But Capello’s insistently blind.

Finally, some sense!
Substituted at half time
Why, I’m not quite sure
But it’s a start, a start of what we want.
We want to see
As I’m sure a lot of you know
Our legend, Rob Green
In the goal, playing for his country
Instead of old Calamity.

He deserves this more than most
Capello sees him play consistently
On great form, in front of his nose
But he stays stubborn
Stays blind.
Portsmouth v West Ham
Why did he not see?
Greeno’s the man for England,
He’ll realise one day

But hopefully
before it becomes
far too late.
