Twenty three minutes was all it took
‘Ere the fans leapt high and the New Stand shook,
‘Ere he got his name upon the board,
And normal service was restored.

Twenty three minutes were on the clock
When Crawley looked up and took stock,
Waiting to take a corner kick,
With Jayo hoping for a flick.

Twenty three minutes and in it swung,
With Jayo’s marker badly stung,
Sucked towards the curving ball,
Failing to read its flight at all.

Twenty three minutes and Jayo stepped
Two paces back while others leapt.
And, barely breaking any sweat,
He nodded it into the empty net.

Twenty three minutes, the fans went wild,
And even Patsy Fenlon smiled,
But though our Jayo’s back on song,
Why did he make us wait so long?
