First Game of the Season

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Twenty three minutes was all it took
‘Ere the fans leapt high and the New Stand shook,
‘Ere he got his name upon the board,
And normal service was restored.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Twenty three minutes were on the clock
When Crawley looked up and took stock,
Waiting to take a corner kick,
With Jayo hoping for a flick.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Twenty three minutes and in it swung,
With Jayo’s marker badly stung,
Sucked towards the curving ball,
Failing to read its flight at all.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Twenty three minutes and Jayo stepped
Two paces back while others leapt.
And, barely breaking any sweat,
He nodded it into the empty net.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Twenty three minutes, the fans went wild,
And even Patsy Fenlon smiled,
But though our Jayo’s back on song,
Why did he make us wait so long?
