First Love Lost

He stood there sobbing
shoulders shaking
heart aching
a child of six no more
blonde hair blue eyes
flowing streams of sadness
a novice green and raw
“why” he cried
up to the sky
as adults slowed and smiled
yet choked
adams apples poked
tussled at his hair
for they’d been therebefore
a novice green and raw
lessons learning
lifes emotion
paying the price
for his devotion
for one so young so tough
but love runs smooth
and love runs rough
first scar
upon a tender heart
the years would ease the pain
it’s part and parcel
of the package
when you’re in love
with the beautiful game.
