Following The Reds

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Down Anfield Road many a year ago I saw them first and knew
That those red shirts would weave a snare and hold my red heart true
I saw Ray Clemence rise to heaven along Shankly’s Liverpool Way
And I held my breath as Keegan met a pass from Alec Lindsay

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 The Kopites sang their battle songs and roared the Redmen on
For here the faithful found a voice and passion found its songs
The Kings of Europe played their part and from then to this day
Oh I have loved no other loves since I saw the Redmen play

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 The gifts they gave me warmed my heart idols of pure gold
God’s poets, artists in red shirts from Stubbins, Hunt to Owen
And down old streets once more we meet to dream as kids again
We wake the ghosts who grab their boots and call us for a game.
