Football’s Love of Money

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Funny how we make heroes of them
Worship and adore them
Name our children after icons
And saints
But not those of the Christ
Apostles of Football
Gospels of Dalglish
And Shankly
For these we become disciples
Spread the Good News
Keep the faith
And meet at the cathedral
In the kop wearing the red cassocks
But these days
If you want a ticket
Try writing to the pope
And he may act on your behalf
Some intercession needed
Twice round on the rosary
Won’t get you as far
As £300 in the fingers of a tout
Those high priests of the golden bulls (hit)
Who practice the ways
Of the old religion.

Notes

Cynical I know but the prices being quoted for the forthcoming Liverpool v Utd game are beyond belief….and the pockets of the faithful.
