Giving the boots the boot

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Time to hang up my boots
Knees ready to say goodnight
Princesses for granddaughters
No need to prolong the fight

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 I’ve always been beaten for skill
And I wasn’t blessed with pace
My fitness sadly let me down
Fair play and discipline disgraced

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 I’m getting on, well forty nine
It’s time to do the swap
Football boots for sequin shoes
Let’s hope my dancing’s not a flop

Notes

I have decided that my playing days are finished. A sad sight indeed, seeing my red boots consigned to the charity shop. Time to face the reality as well as the music, and dance. It’s good enough for Robbie Savage and I’ve got more hair than him.
The slow jive is still too fast, the tango is a no-no and my quickstep is an accident waiting to happen. However, I can conga for longer and waltz off for a sit down after five minutes.
