The ferry ’cross the Mersey
Docks at the Pier Head
A look towards the Liver Birds
Standing majestically overhead

I wander up to Mathew Street
Where our Fab Four once ruled
A bite to eat and a beer or two
In the heartland of Liverpool

Jump a cab to Anfield Road
Past Eleanor Rigby, on her own
Up Scottie Road to The Valley
My dreams are tossed and blown

Along the Walton Breck Road
The Spion Kop comes into view
My heart starts beating faster
As I mingle with the chosen few

Through the Paisley Gateway
I cast a glance over at Shanks
Legend, Hero and Football Sage
With a nod, I offer my thanks

Through the turnstile, up the steps
And there it is before my eyes
The green, green grass of home
No more storms, just golden skies
