I HAD THIS DREAM

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 I had this dream about a place in north London
I was waiting for something, just drinking a tonic and gin
The pub was filled with folks all dressed in red and white
Just waiting for something through this restless night

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 The punters were happily dancing, kicking up their heels
Enjoying the local brew, fish & chips and the jellied eels
Some cute Dido look-alike asked me for a light
Just waiting for something through this restless night

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 The dream was a bit jaded, a bit hazy
Something was about to happen, something crazy
The sun came up and got stuck against the sky
The crowd filtered out slowly and I asked her why

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 She gave me that Dido smile which I didn’t understand
Then she reached over and took me by the hand
It felt so warm, her eyes so mystical and so deep
A prayed that I would, I could continue to sleep

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 She led me outside where the sun had dipped a bit
The street was crowed with everyone wearing the same kit
Everyone heading in the same direction, going the same way
My restless night was turning into a magical day

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 We followed that crowd, some now chanting out loud
As they rounded the corner, they began to scurry
Hand in hand, we walked quicker, began to hurry
We too turned that corner and I felt I didn’t have a worry
When down the road I spotted the hallowed halls of
Arsenal Stadium – the fortress Highbury

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 That was long ago, the dream of a very young man
Ever since then I’ve been a big supporter, a real fan
I’ve been back there since to see the Arsenal play
Except for my Dido, I’m still dreaming today

Notes

Good French wine, usually a nice Muscadet, has this effect on me!
