I Run The Line – Part 1

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 As a linesman
I’m impartial.
I don’t take sides
Just martial
My thoughts,
Go by the rules,
Ignore the opinions
Of fools
In the crowd shouting
“Where are your specs?”
I imagine they’re frustrated
Not getting sex
On a regular
Basis.
Well, they should know
Where their place is.
I’m important you see,
Top of the tree.
Apart, of course
From the Referee.
Ok, I’m not in charge,
Don’t have a whistle,
But at least I’m not
The fourth official.
He just holds up
The stoppage time board,
Restrains one team’s manager
When the other team’s scored,
And maybe I
Could have given offside
But if I’d said I was perfect
Then I would have lied.
I run the line,
My flag is my tool,
And, like I said, I’m impartial.
I’m nobody’s fool.
