Jackie Milburn

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 And the smile of the terrace child
And the child eternal
And the child that reasons
With the ragged emotion
Of the compulsive human heart
Hungry for heroes
Here would find love
With a faith that did not burden
Nor wither
But blazed a path with ancestry
Fed through vibrant willing veins
Feeding goals sweet as soul music
True deliverance served through defences
That went down like punctured balloons.
