Jayo Didn’t Score

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 A win that’s tinged with sadness,
But should we ask for more?
Though Shelbourne shone,
The record’s gone,
For Jayo didn’t score.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 It couldn’t last forever.
Of that we could be sure.
Nine in a row?
It had to go!
For once, he didn’t score.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 The Village did their homework
To silence Shelbourne’s roar.
Jayo shackled,
Crisply tackled,
Thus he didn’t score.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 The Cork fans though were silenced
By what fate had in store.
Brought to their knees
By two o.g’s,
Though Jayo didn’t score.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 When Murray chipped his keeper,
The Village People swore.
Cork went behind,
But did we mind
That Jayo didn’t score?

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 The Cork fans lost their bottle,
When Ollie slammed the door,
And we were left
Not quite bereft
That Jayo didn’t score.

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 Cork hoofed it down the middle,
Both pointless and a bore,
Though they might claim
Some kind of fame
That Jayo didn’t score.

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 The Cork fans all left early,
Their wounds so red and raw,
Slightly fazed
And somewhat dazed
They’d not seen Jayo score.

9 Leave a comment on verse 9 0 Excuses will drop lightly
From Dolan’s jaundiced jaw.
He should keep quiet,
For Shels ran riot,
Though Jayo didn’t score.

10 Leave a comment on verse 10 0 So we’re still sitting pretty,
Just like we were before,
Though disappointed
The anointed
Jayo didn’t score.

11 Leave a comment on verse 11 0 He’s still the One we worship,
The One we all adore,
The One we will
Bow down to, still,
Although he didn’t score.

Notes

Cork 0 Shels 2. Jason Byrne fails to score to make it ten league games on the trot.
