Lionel Archibald Marmaduke John

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 The marquee was empty, the wedding guests gone,
And Lionel Archibald Marmaduke John
Fingered a vol-au-vent ever so gently
And gazed round the billowing awning
Intently.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 He flung the said vol-au-vent up to the ceiling,
And, as it dropped quickly, he struck it with feeling,
He aimed for the door of this great canvas mansion,
But sadly his shot merely found a large stanchion.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Undaunted, he raided the finger-food trolley,
And caught all the savoury treats on the volley,
But prim peppered pastry and sweet sausage roll
Could not find their way through the ill-conceived goal.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Thus Lionel Archibald Marmaduke John
Sent all the food flying until nearly gone.
But right at the death, this persistent attacker
Whooped with delight as he buried a cracker.
