Little But Large – Norman Deeley 1933-2007

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 At ‘for-feet-four’ he was that mighty mite,
A schoolboy international. Athough
He gained only another foot in height
He managed, almost fifty years ago,
To win two Championships, an F.A.Cup
medal, and represent England. Stan
Cullis took him in hand and brought him up
To scratch, made him a member of the clan
Incorporating Broadbent, Billy Wright,
Murray and Mullen, when Wolves were lords
Of Europe. He conquered his lack of height
Through effort without gaining the rewards
lavished, these days on mollycoddled pros.
Deeley, pre-metatarsals, pre-Galacticos.
