Liverpool 7 Tottenham Hotspur 0 (September 2nd 1978)

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Two world cup winners the spurs brought to Anfield
Ardilles and Villa who thought they would shine
But their light was snuffed out by the boys in the red
Whose beautiful football was quite simply divine

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 We’re 1 up after 10 minutes with a fine Dalglish goal
A few minutes later and Dalglish scores again
Perryman looks jaded and old before his time
McDermott he crosses and Razor doesn’t miss them

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 We attack the kop goal twice more coming close
But Daines saves from Case Perryman clears from the line
Ossie and Ricky aren’t given a chance
And they must be relieved when the ref blows for half time

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Crazy Horse takes a knock and “The Doc” he comes on
He writes a prescription that gives us two more goals
One from his left foot and the other from his right
As Dalglish takes the game and makes it his own

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Steve Heighway is hacked down and a penalty given
Phil Neal takes his shot and its 6 to the reds
Now the 7th a classic and so much has been written
How Mac ran the field to score with his head

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 Razor cleared the ball to Dalglish who then passed to Doc
And Heighway on the wing went off on a run
Terry Mac who started the move in defence
Ran the length of the field and met the cross bang on!

Notes

the best goal I ever saw, ever.
