Make Some Noise

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 when the winner won’t go in
when the main stand will not sing
when the late match nerves kick in
make some noise for Rovers

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 when you’ve had your mash and pie
gritted teeth as time flies by
take your gloves off have a try
make some noise for Rovers

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 is it really just the young
who refuse to be out-sung
and implore you with the drum
to make some noise for Rovers ?

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 I’ve seen people stop and stare
parents shudder turn and glare
at my trusty clapper there
making noise for Rovers

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 as a child upon the Shed
on those chants and noise was fed
shared allegiance * there it’s said
to make some noise for Rovers

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 and I for one care not a fig
at any match here small or big
and though its sometimes like a gig
just make some noise for Rovers

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 are we embarrassed or just shy?
and sit there as the the game flies by
afraid to raise our voices high
and make some noise for Rovers?

FGR 2 Tranmere Rovers 2 . 22 Nov 2016

Happy with a point and what great football.

I hate to moan but lack of noise in the main East Stand here at FGR(after such an improved noise v Lincoln) is woeful still.

Are we really just too cold to take our gloves off and clap? Early season/ late Summer nights weren’t much better. We can do better.

I spend a lot of time ( and you can laugh) imploring people to make some noise ..and buy a clapper (what!?) Aren’t they just for kids you ask? No I encourage everyone I meet to buy a cardboard clapper. Let’s be naif…who cares. It works for Fulham and Leicester and Norwich and others. Yet people still look at me like I’m loopy next to them .69 and making some noise, disgraceful outrageous outward behaviour ….arrest me? I’ve had older people and kids next to me put fingers in ears, or alarmed at the noise a little cardboard clapper makes…(what?)

I guess it’s the downside, if you sit in the stand like I do, of having the luxury of a plush suite for everyonel (still somehow even though it gets rammed) . Maybe were too cosy in the serene and packed enclaves of the CE Suite with its great vegan food .It does feel like going to a posh theatre for a play or gig at times. .where you clap at the start and the end. We are spoilt, those of us lucky enough to be in there.

.I also know we’re better known for Rugby, fishing, and god forbid hunting, but why not (shock-horror) buy a clapper and make some noise ? Fair play to the drummers and South Stand hardcore crew, without them we’d be the laughing stock. I do occasionally bring in my old wooden rattle (even more shock horror) and the reaction is equally bemusing. Oh no it’s that poet bloke with a rattle, can we move away Dad/Mum?

Come on guys …..love your team and show it..rant over …onward.. Thoughts guys?

* Shared allegiance (lifelong Chelsea fan ..still am..I’m one of those ” No you can’t have two teams mate” type bloke..But I do. So there and by the way they’re both top of their respective leagues (for now!)
