Merseyside today, Montreal tomorrow?

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 dedicated to the team formerly known as Liverpool FC

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Rafa the gaffer – the (shortlived) King of gaffes
With his ‘small team’ Everton jibe
But now I’m much more put out
By the Gillette / Hicks ‘Franchise’ vibe

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 I just cannot believe
That they actually used the ‘F’ word
Weren’t they warned? Taught the history?
That the ‘Dublin Dons’ idea was (supposedly) absurd?

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 But then I guess
That Milton Keynes (of all places!) set the precedent
That money now commands and directs
So go sod the residents

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 And so I guess we’re actually half way there …

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 The ‘EPL Franchise’ already consists of :

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 Chukotka Blues
Cairo Cottage
Austin Villains
Florida Devils
Montreal Liverbirds
Colorado Gunners
Tinseltown Toffees
Helsinki Hammers
Petersburg Pompey (they have to drop the St. 😉

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 And I guess the full complement next year, will see …

9 Leave a comment on verse 9 0 Alabama Brummies
Kentucky County
Milwaukee Boro
New Jersey Magpies
Boston Wanderers
Charleston Valiants
Maine City
Harlem Hotspurs
Riyadh Royals
Black Sea Rovers
Baggiedad Throstles

Notes

I’ve left it a week – and I’m still seething!

(but not Seething Wells 😉

This poem relates to the interviews given by Liverpool’s new owners, whereby they constantly refered to the club as a ‘franchise’ – my pet hate – I consider it a swear word – I personally feel that the history of all our clubs is one of the most alluring part of the make-up of our beautiful game.
