MISTER REFEREE

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 I know the 90 minutes are up
But Mister Referee
Please don’t blow that whistle

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 We can still win the Cup
Although today
We played abysmal

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Not yet, just let the clock ride
You took away our equalizer
Because your assistant flagged “offside”

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 You knew it wasn’t true
But what else could you do
Just another five or six minutes
Is all I ask of you

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 On our penalty claim
You looked the other way
Your assistant did the same
He, too, is having a bad day

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 Don’t even look at the time
Just let our striker do his thing
He’s still in his prime
He’ll make our supporters sing

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 The sun was in our defenders eyes
When he gave away that penalty kick
He’s really a very nice guy
Not another football lunatic

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 Our free kick wasn’t exactly fair
The wall was too close to the ball
And you weren’t even aware

9 Leave a comment on verse 9 0 No, please don’t raise that whistle
Look! Look! He’s lining up his shot

10 Leave a comment on verse 10 0 Woah! He fired a missile
But over the crossbar – idiot!

11 Leave a comment on verse 11 0 The hourglass is empty
It’s completely out of sand
We came so close this time
We almost had it in our hands

12 Leave a comment on verse 12 0 The Cup was so, so near
It would have been such a great
Atmosphere

13 Leave a comment on verse 13 0 But the great thing about football is

14 Leave a comment on verse 14 0 There’s always next year.
