Monterrey (Mexico) 1-3 Chelsea

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 The tills are ringing, our eyes are poppin’
Off to Yokohama, for Christmas shoppin’
And there to play, a game or two
Victory please, for the boys in Blue

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 And Santa dearest, presents for the boys:
For Rafa, anything making a clapping noise
For David Luiz, a new position
For Nando, a career re-ignition!

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 And so to the game….
Goal one, a neat finish from Mata
And still we chatter
About Oscar’s backheel !

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Goal two, just 20 seconds into the second half
Torres having a larf
With a massive deflection
And after only a moment’s reflection
We seal a final berth
Victory warranted, for what it’s worth
Goal three, an o.g.
But a cutting move
Of which we approve
Though goal four, we’ll choose to ignore

Notes

FIFA Club World Cup semi-final, Yokohama, Japan

Chelsea as Champions League winners & Corinthians as the the Libertadores champions parachute straight into the semi-final stages, whereas Monterrey had to win through a quarter final stage, where the champions of each continent compete, along with a Japanese club (as host and sponsors)
