Morrisons – Fellows Park, Reprise.

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 People want their Walsall back
I wonder what that means?
They’re marching to and from the site
Of comedy latrines.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 They’re calling for belated truths
And answers from the usurers
Jeff patrols the bargain isle
Smiling at the queue-servers .

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 There’s dead fish in the six yard box
Where once a salmon leapt
To put Newcastle on their knees
And that’s where Leicester wept.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 When Man United came to town
Buckley wasn’t filling
The shelves with seasonal landfill tat
His art-form kept us dreaming.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Dreaming of some better day,
One forever ours
When we could finish school or work
En-route to the twin towers.

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 The warmth of self-deception was
Our heartbreak and our hit
Heroes clutching champagne flutes
Wearing mud for kit.

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 Could this dissonance be dissolved? Could we have our say?
In weeks when mediocrity can earn “five o five k”.
Maybe those that can reprise will lead a clarion sound
Rip down these soulless superstores and rebuild proper grounds.
