Nat Lofthouse – The Legend Lives On

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 So now in peace he lies at rest: the jewel in Bolton’s mighty crown.
But the legend will live on and on of ‘Sir Nat’ and Bolton town.
The story of the Lion who played for England’s pride.
Born to be a Wanderer and as a Wanderer he died.
Forever loyal and faithful to his country, club and town.
Always ready with a smile: never had a frown.
Most never saw him kick a ball, most never saw him play.
But the legend will live in Bolton hearts forever and a day.
An inspiration to all he met and to footballers young and old.
A knight in all but title: good, kind, true and bold.
Denied his real title and the recognition it would bring
But in this land, it’s nigh impossible, for a Queen to knight a King.
On Bolton streets and avenues his name will live forever
Nat Lofthouse, ‘Sir Nat’, Lofty, The Lion of Vienna.
