Not a Season to Remember

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 This season has gone from bad to worse
Being a Wolves fan is like a bearing a curse
With the highest highs and the lowest lows
The old fans say “That’s how it goes”

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 The young fans single out players to berate
The heroes they love and the villains they hate
What they can’t grasp, or so it would seem
Is that we win as a team and we lose as a team

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 There is no one person to blame
We haven’t gone down in flames
But with so few games left to play
We’re watching the season slowly fade away

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Walter Zenga has come and gone
And so has Mendez, the prodigal son
Fosun’s Premier league dream was just a fable
As Paul Lambert leads us down the table

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Sacking managers now has become ‘horses for courses’
One of our best ones, in spite of limited resources
Has been above us in the table for the last three years
You cannot imagine how that grinds my gears!

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 We broke our transfer record twice this season
Fosun splashed the cash and with very good reason
But you wonder where the money has gone
As fragile players get injured one by one

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 After millions watched us beat the Reds and Stoke
Our performance against Birmingham was just a joke
We even gave Chelsea a hell of a game
So I really shouldn’t be feeling this shame

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 Us old Wolves fans have been here before
And we mutter I don’t want this any more
But then we go and watch one more game
Drawn back to Molineux like a moth to a flame

Notes

Only Wolves could get bought by billionaire owners, bring in half of Benfica’s promising young players, spending £7 million and £13 million on two of them, spend a total of £27 million, replace the manager and still end up lower in the table than we were this time last year. Great this football lark ‘aint it?
