On Scoring an Own Goal

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 The action was transitory – a step, a blow,
The action of a muscle – this way, not that –
‘Tis done, and in the after vacancy
We wonder at ourselves like men betrayed:
An O.G is permanent, obvious but dark,
And shares the nature of infinity.

Notes

I still haven’t got over the own goal I scored playing for the Borderers in 1842.
