On the 31st It’s Piggin’ Wigan

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 The Gelderd mob endured severe frustration
In suffering a recent relegation
Though now the pressure’s off Leeds fans are happier
The problem is the fixture list’s much crappier

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 So kicking off at home to Derby County
Leeds ought to come away with 3 points bounty
But on the 10th they visit sunny Gillingham
A prospect that is seriously chilling ‘em

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Then Wolves and Forest followed by the Blades
I don’t think they’ll break even from these raids
And Watford, Sky Blues, Plymouth on a roll
These games may not be such an easy stroll

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 September 18th might see change at Crewe
But win or lose I’ll leave it up to you
Sunderland, Stoke City, Cardiff, Preston
Such thoughts they could get seriously depressed on

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Away to Reading, then away to Brighton
Now that could really be a very shite ‘un
October signs off with a mega-big ‘un
When on the 31st it’s piggin’ Wigan

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 Then Burnley, Ipswich, Preston, Queen’s Park Rangers
Leeds shouldn’t underestimate the dangers
November 27th off to Rotherham
Against the odds this one could seriously bother ‘em

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 Then Foxes, Hammers, Millwall and the Mackems
The Christmas run-in’s tough I wouldn’t back ‘em
Leeds could be coming terribly unstuck
And facing an enormous Christmas Duck

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 The family Yuletide could be far from perky
With daddy wrecking vengeance on the turkey
And uncles who really won’t be missed
And Auntie Elsie on the sofa pissed

9 Leave a comment on verse 9 0 Leeds could be in a low point situation
With prospects giving rise to desperation
Then New Year time it’s turn and turn about
Let’s hope by then it’s not a headlong rout

10 Leave a comment on verse 10 0 And so on and so forth ad infinitum
The clubs return again for Leeds to smite ‘em
If Christmas burial leads to mass dejection
Here’s hoping for an Easter resurrection

Notes

August 2004 – just scanning LUFC’s fixture list, I hit on the idea of an ode based on it. The quality is down to its usual standard, but it’s had a 50/50 reception on waccoe [LUFC fans board]
