Pomp and irksome stance

Shed not tears, for ye journo’s and hacks
As one man stands up to be counted
Subtlety he lacks
But a debt of millions he surmounted

The tabloids print a doleful picture
They so easily forget his massive contribution
When ridiculing, with their fiscal stricture

Bombastic, gobby and grandiloquent
With his ill-chosen comments perceived as anti-Zion
At 70, it’s only his scorn that’s withering, he’s unlikely to repent
Somehow, I don’t think he’ll be looking for a shoulder to cry on
