REDMEN

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 There have been so many great names all down the years
Legendary Reds we’ve loved and cheered
Some who wore our hearts as crowns
They made us Kings and made us proud
From the Scottish soil the 3 Jocks left
To the banks of The Mersey to bring their craft
Three young lads with their boots packed with fire
Three young lions who caught Bob’s canny eye

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Their football pointed to The Liverpool Way
And they lit up Anfield when they played
European Kings 3 times the best
They’d play all day never needed to rest
Hansen smart and slick just like James Bond
Souness a general tough and strong
And there where the light shone down on his feats
You’d see the angel known as Dalglish

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Then there was Gary Ablett with his skinny legs
Long and lean a true prince in Red
Paul Walsh was class and spread the word
Beardo passed defenders like they weren’t there
There was Nicol and Houghton whose boots stayed true
Especially when the other team played in blue
The vision of Craig Johnstone flying down the wings
The power of Alan Kennedy and the prize his boots would bring

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 There was Ronnie “The Skunk” Whelan he’d run through walls
Rob Jones the lad he tried but he just couldn’t score
Lawro ran off Duracell so solid at the back
Brought the ball safely forward to set up each attack
As kids we all loved Ian Rush the way he scored his goals
We’d meet up at the park or street and practice heart and soul
We’d drive the ball beneath a sky whose solemn clouds declared
The rain is off and watch a while the football down on earth

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 His body lean and whippet thin his eye the perfect range
And oh so many target shots would find the net again
But best of all the very thought became my dearest wish
If I could once be Ian Rush beside me there Dalglish
He’s fat he’s round his arse is on the ground
But little Sammy Lee in the red did us proud
“Shaggy’s” rangy legs would shoot but times the net so rarely found
But when Robbie scored his goals God cheered from the crowd!
