Requiem for football clubs fallen on hard times

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Falling roofs and dipping eaves
Field of long lost distant dreams
Days of thunder seem far gone
An echoing roar that’s come and gone
Flat cap and Bovril glory days
So far gone they’d never been
And on the field (as you might recall)
Players who didn’t trip over the ball
When football was football
And men were men
How we wish we still had
Days like then

Notes

Prompted by Phil Mulrayne’s impending move on a Bosman transfer and the news that 8 league clubs may go out of business before the end of the season.
