Still That Old Cup Cliché Magic ..

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 it’s David and Goliath time it’s boys among the men
the club the pride the media ride it’s that ol’ time again
we’ve waited years to get a run and this could turn it round
we’re gonna take it as it comes and milk it to the ground
the fans deserve it they’re the best they’re worth a goal alone
you feel it in your waters you feel it in your bones
you feel that tension when you wake until that whistle blows
we’re up against the big boys now you never ever know
that ol ‘cup cliché magic so come on bring it on
you only get one stab a year you turn around it’s gone

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 but this is our Cup Final it could just go our way
whatever happens just be sure that we’ll enjoy the day
we’re not just here as underdogs we’ll give it our best shot
it’s good for us and this old town the atmosphere the lot
you always get that magic you always have that dream
it always sends that feeling running right throughout the team
it doesn’t matter who you are but when it comes around
there’s something special every year about that ol’ third round
our team’s made up of postmen a butcher and a baker
they’re part time and we’ve even got a scented candle-maker
you wonder if this could be it your moment and your year
will it be us ..let’s wait and see we’ve nothing here to fear
that ol ‘cup cliché magic – so come on bring it on
you only get one stab a year you turn around it’s gone

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 the glamour boys are shaking and quaking in their shoes
and form goes out the window we’ve nothing much to lose
we’ll go there and be up for it we could give them a scare
and if we hold them at their place I’d love to bring them here
if we can keep them quiet and really make them chase
our name could just be on the Cup if we match them for pace
the pressure’s on the leaders we’ll keep them on their toes
but we’ll set out our usual stall and just see how it goes
if lady luck shines down on us we’ll get the rub out there
the cup’s a level playing field let’s hope we get our share
we’ve got our feet upon the ground we’re standing at the station
and as those pundits always say we’ve got no expectation
you always get one minnow that dishes out a shock
the boss has got his lucky charm and mine’s an old blue sock
that ol ‘cup cliché magic – so come on bring it on
you only get one stab a year – you turn around it’s gone
