Lost amidst jumpers
And a jumble of clothes
With his trainers all muddy
He’d put on a show

He was blessed with such lightning
And a thunder of goals
Defenders were battered
With no place to go

“The Bard of the Schoolyard”
The kids would all sing
Took the ball down like Mooro
And played like a dream

With a jink to the left
Then a step to the right
With a shimmy of hips
A magical sight

The driver not looking
“He was drunk” they all said
As he stole the lad’s magic
And left him for dead

Tho his name isn’t famous
Or written on shirts
A young lad is playing
Where football is first
¶ 7

He was Georgie and Pele
He was Muller and Cruyff
The best kid at footy
I saw in my life.
