The Liverpool Soul

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 By the banks of The Mersey singing my songs
Telling tales of heroes now sadly long gone
But here in my heart thsoe legends remain
Still gracing the park in the Liverpool Way

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 The Liver Bird nestles with pride on my chest
As we gaze out together on God’s finest, and best
Testimonial games against the grand green and white
We both grieved together when King Kenny said “Goodbye”

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 The Spion Sons who grew up on the kop
18 League Titles and 4 European Cups
A pint at the Arkles and The Albert is packed
Jumping onto buses racing upstairs to the back

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Whatever the weather be it rain or snow
When Saturday comes there is but one place to go
From the times of Shankly’s glory boys of 1965
Cardiff Rome and Dortmund, two trebles on the side

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Our grand Liverpool Lads would put on a show
Chris Lawler’s boots laced with passion and gold
At Wembley Rushie put two past the Blues
We thought when Ian scored we never would lose

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 Oh for the miracles that pour when King Kenny shoots
And me finding God in the grace of his boots
And I send up my prayers where my father now sleeps
One more Owen goal will wake up his peace

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 Where Macca’s long legs ran rings round the ‘tic
And Robbie would pull from his drawer another hat trick
Those goals from McDermott, Smithy and Neal
Brought our dreams down from heaven, and made each one real.
