Looked again at the new fixture list
Just to make sure when the “tasty” games are
You know all the local derbies
And the ones you just can’t miss.

Then I checked the Christmas period (sad)
Hoping we’re at home on Boxing Day,
Great we are, good excuse to get away from it
Strange isn’t it, how there’s always a big crowd !

Loved that game when I was a kid
Me and my dad, and my Uncle Stan
All us little uns passed down to the front
Everyone seemed full of good cheer, and beer.

But you can’t beat the opening game
The atmosphere in the bars before kick off
All the banter with like minded people
Last season shoved to the back of the mind.

But ours has been moved to the Sunday
The T.V. people must be expecting a cracker
It’s our lot versus Keano’s Tractor Boys
But all games should be on the Saturday.

I reckon a football fans fixture list
Is really more like a calendar
With dates of games circled and ticked off
And the “big ones ” marked with a highlighter pen.

But I won’t do what I did last season
And put my predictions down next to each game
Because if the team did what I forecasted
We’d have won the Championship by a mile !
