The Red Rec

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Whatever you do, don’t fall over
When you tackle your opponent.
If you fall on this stuff
You’ll scrape a yard of skin off your leg.
Football, or cricket come to that,
Was a different world
In a city, in the 50s and 60s.
The infamous Red Recs
Which abounded then
Either made you a good footballer,
Or put you off the game for life.
Unfortunately, this Rec
Is next to your school,
So its all you’ve got to play on.
So you pull on your number 11 shirt,
Persevere a bit longer,
And hope that you’re faster than the fullback.
