The Sacred Emblem

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 We raise our flag of red not blue
Of all good people strong and true
Where hopes are born and live to be
For redmen all is victory
Beneath our gallant LiverBird
The strength of faith and ever heard
Kopites singin’ gathered here
Such praises, hymns and chants and cheers…

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 “Poor Scouser Tommy” and then “The Fields”
The songs we learn to sing born here
“We all live in a red and white kop!”
“Ee aye addio, we’ve won the cup”!
From Anfield days to Dortmund nights
The roar goes up the battle cry
Each time the reds come marching back
“Attack Attack Attack!”

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 From football’s heaven came the anthem
And carved in every chest upon
Our sacred emblem carried home
From Paris, Wembley, Cardiff, Rome
And glory nights through wind and rain
To Anfield’s hallowed turf again
When Christ returns his trumpets call
A Redman He for one and all…

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 With subtle skills and turn of speed
Of this we learn to truly dream
And grace of God that ere decreed
By breath by vision all succeed
Who watch with heart and hear with soul
And sing our legends brave and bold
For those whose blood flows deepest red
Toast Anfield’s wine, and praise her bread.
