I’ve seen the sun set in many a place
I’ve seen the moon light many a road
Yet when I stand before the Shankly Gates
Lord only then will I know I’m home

I’ve kissed the fickle lips of glory
And made her willin’ heart me own
But when I see the Shankly Gates
Lord then I’ll know at last I’m home

A dreamin’ fool I’ve chased the stars
And in me time the sadness known
But when I’m near the Shankly Gates
Lord then my ragged heart is home

Of heaven’s treasures no more I ask
Than peaceful heart forgiven soul
And there beside the Shankly Gates
Lord lead me to for then I’m home.
